Specified Types of Dog
The Act requires the ‘type’ of dog suitable to undertake relevant work as specified in the Act to be set out in Regulations. The Regulations list the following ‘types’ :-
Terriers – Jack Russell, Cairn, Lakeland and Norfolk:
Spaniels – English springer, cocker and Welsh springer.
HPRs – ie Braque Italian, Brittany, German Long Haired Pointer, German Short Haired Pointer, German Wire Haired Pointer, Hungarian Vizsla, Hungarian Wire Haired Vizsla, Italian Spinone, Spanish Water Dog, Weimeraner, Korthals Griffon, Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer, Large Munsterlander, Small Munsterlander.
There are no exceptions to this list. Dogs do not have to be Kennel club registered but they must be one of the breeds allowed to be docked.
